Karl earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at UTD in Spring 2019. Following that, in Summer 2019, he joined Dr. Malik’s research team, focusing on finite element modeling of high speed machining processes and residual stress characterization. More about Karl.
Michael B. Seger

Michael was selected for a commissioning program to attend the University of Oklahoma majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He graduated as Distinguished Marine and Commandant’s award winner. After retiring from the United States Marine Corps, Michael completed a Masters Degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. He was awarded a fellowship from a National Science Foundation grant to study residual stress in materials and associated effects on distortion of manufactured parts in pursuit of Ph.D working for Dr. Malik as a research assistant. Ritin Mathews

Following his Ph.D. graduation in summer of 2022, Ritin went on to join Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a Post-doctoral Research Associate. His current research entails improving conventional machining operations as well as emerging technologies (additive-subtractive hybrid manufacturing), which closely follows his Ph.D. dissertation on the same. Sepehr Sadeh

Sepehr received his M.S. and B.S. degrees from Florida Institute of Technology (Mechanical Engineering, 2015) and Iran University of Science and Technology (Automotive Engineering, 2012). With his experience and interest in Laser Material Processing, in 2016, he joined the Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. program at The University of Texas at Dallas, where he conducts Laser Impact research in the Manufacturing and Design Innovation discipline under the supervision of Dr. Arif S. Akash Patel

Upon graduating, Akash joined Arconic (formerly Alcoa) R&D, Arconic Technology Center. Akash received his Ph.D. in May 2022 after defending his dissertation that detailed the development of self-coded 3D mathematical models of the cold rolling process, structural dynamics, and chatter. Glenn Gleason

After completing UT Dallas’ graduate program with a concentration area of mechanics and materials, Glenn accepted a position as Senior Associate for the Mechanical Engineering Team at the consulting firm Exponent. Glenn’s dissertation topic was on the development of finite element models for laser impact welding processes. More about Glenn.
Sumair Sunny

Upon graduating, Sumair began work at the Mechanical Engineering department at UT Dallas as a Post Doctoral Research Associate with Dr. Malik. He has now moved on to work for WorldLink as an Associate Engineer, in support of their client Samsung. Sumair received his PhD. degree in May 2021 after defending a dissertation that highlighted the importance of residual stress and microstructure consideration when post-processing additive manufactured metals parts. Karuna Sitaula

Upon completion of her Master’s, Karuna began work as a Sales and Service Manager at Electric Avenue International. Karuna started her M.S. in Spring, 2019 after earning an Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering-Thapathali Campus. Haoliang Yu

Upon graduating with his PhD. Haoliang joined the Additive Manufacturing Research & Development Team at ANSYS. Haoliang joined the group in 2016, with a research focusing on fluid structure interaction of flexible UAV wings. He is a gifted programmer and a talented photographer. More about Haoliang.
Feng Zhang

Upon earning his PhD. Feng started work with General Electric R&D, NY. Feng is an aerospace engineer and a pilot with more than six years of work and research experience in the uncertainty-based computational mechanics and the reliability-based structural design optimization. More about Feng.
Mohammad Hatamleh

Mohammad earned his PhD. in the spring of 2019 and is now working as a Software, Design and Research Engineer at Adaptive3D Technologies, LLC. Mohammad earned his Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering in 2010 from The Hashemite University in Jordan. He went on to earn his Masters Degree in mechanical engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology. From 2012 to 2014, he served as a reliability and maintenance mechanical engineer in Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company.
